Founder - Griot Gabriel 


Griot Gabriel is the founder of The Poetry Place. His poetry is influenced by his upbringing in Black urban culture, and his 14 years as a professional Youth Worker.

His poetry explores masculinity, political discourse, racial identity, experiences of inner-city young people and their challenges, and relevant current social issues.  

Griot Gabriel has so far been commissioned to work with Warner Bro’s, Manchester International Festival, The Black Curriculum, BlackFest, computer company DELL, Manchester Metropolitan University, UA92 University, as well as opening book launches with poems for Jason Reynolds and Robyn Travis.
